I'm a WRITER, geek, Eco-Warrior, and Friend to lost dogs
I, Writer!
Writer. It's who I am. It's taken me years to sort myself out, to look in the mirror and say, "Thriller Writer." I have a dark side, and my autobiography will read like a Stephen King novel. It's all good, though, since I know my novels will help others, maybe even you.
I regret nothing. I was writing early on, when I had no clue why, and then later, when I knew why but couldn't choose a genre, which meant I wrote books I shouldn't have. Science Fiction. Fantasy. But when my muse finally said, "Enough!" I had no choice. So: thriller writer!
Being a writer is the hardest career on earth. Writing is a tough gig in this "freeconomy." Few but the best get paid enough to support their latte habit. But writing for me is as essential as breathing.
Find me on Facebook. If you've bought one of my thrillers, or an anthology with one of my short stories, and you want to talk about it, find me on Facebook. I want to hear from you.
I'm ambitious, but i'd choose love over money any day
EARLY STUFF . . . I was a tomboy, a scrawny, willful, scrappy child. If someone said I couldn't do something, I did it. In grade school, I ran away and was put in jail (first and only kid in my class to be called "jailbird"). I was also first in my family to get a Bachelor's and Master's (plus two professional, Master's-level certifications, one in Professional Business and Technical Writing, and a second one in Web pedagogies in higher education).
CAREER . . . I was always working to break the glass ceiling (silly me). First and only female on the Executive Committee at a Cincinnati software firm, I coached my team to win the Cincinnati Editors' Association's Best Software Guide of the year. And, when I decided to hang it up as manager of my award-winning Media Products Design Team, I turned to my passion: fiction writing! My romantic suspense novel, "Vengeance Is Mine: The Profiler's Passion," placed 3rd in the acclaimed Golden Pen contest. So while it's been a hard road, I've pulled my weight.
AT LAST . . . PASSION . . . I made the transition, quit my day job, and started my life as a fiction writer. I took time to write several really bad novels. I joined every writing group and wrote. And wrote. And wrote. I got nowhere. Then I did what I do: I took charge of my fiction writing career, and I chose the right genre for me: thriller, mystery, true crime. To quote Maya Angelou, "Wouldn't take nothing for my journey now."
AND YET . . . I'm still that scrappy tomboy, daring the world to tell me there's something I can't do. I'm now CEO of Red Girl Digital Media LLC, a digital marketing tech startup. When I'm not promoting authors, I'm writing thrillers fulltime at my beloved Mucky Manor.
